Advice for architects & developers
Hoistway and pit sizing, MR or MRL choice, traffic analysis and technical documentation from the design stage.

01The sketch
Sketch it, the range answers.
Set the number of levels and where the machinery goes: the section draws itself and the compatible Hyundai Elevator models appear, with the indicative speed.

02The phases
Each phase, its answer.
What we bring to the design team, from sketch to handover.
- 01
Sketch
First assumptions: number of elevators, hoistway positions, with or without a machine room.
- 02
Preliminary design
The likely models and the outline openings.
- 03
Detailed design
Hoistway, pit and headroom for the chosen model; traffic analysis where needed.
- 04
Tender documents
Data sheets and the specification for the tender.
- 05
Construction
Coordination of openings, power supply and access with the other trades.
- 06
Handover
Testing, commissioning and handover of the elevator documentation.
03Planning
Preparing the installation.
The points to settle with the architect and the engineers before pricing.
- 01
Hoistway and pit
Hoistway size, pit depth and headroom depend on the chosen model, load and speed. We set them together at the outline design stage.
- 02
Machine room or not
With a machine room (MR) or without (MRL): the choice frees a rooftop room or not. It is made with the architect, at the site-plan stage.
- 03
Traffic and waiting time
The number of cars, their capacity and speed follow from the occupants and uses of each floor. A traffic study confirms it.
04Questions
Frequently asked questions
04 questions
01What is the difference between MR and MRL?
MR (machine room): the machinery sits in a dedicated room, usually above the hoistway. MRL (machine-room-less): it is built into the hoistway, which frees up floor area and simplifies construction.
02Which elevator suits a residential building?
Up to 25 storeys, N:EX (belt drive, with or without machine room) or YZER (machine-room-less) are usually the right fit; LUXEN if a machine room is planned. The final choice depends on traffic, the available hoistway and a site visit.
03How much energy can be saved?
According to Hyundai, a permanent-magnet gearless machine uses about 25% less energy than an induction motor, and the regenerative inverter can cut consumption by up to 64%. Real savings depend on traffic and the building.
04Do you also offer escalators?
Yes. The Hyundai range includes S SERIES escalators and moving walks.
