Double-deck elevator
Two stacked, connected cars in a single hoistway serve two floors at once. According to Hyundai Elevator, this high-capacity transport increases net floor area and rental income, and cuts construction cost with fewer hoistways.

- Transport capacity, compared with standard capacity
up to1.8×
- Floor distance adjusted (Hyundai Asan Tower)
up to7m

01The principle
Two floors at every stop.
Exclusive mode
The upper car stops only at even-numbered floors, the lower car only at odd-numbered ones.
Lower car · 6 floors served — Upper car · 6 floors served
- 01Two vertically connected cars in one hoistway
- 02They serve two floors at the same time
- 03Three service modes, chosen according to the building’s traffic

02Four benefits
More capacity, fewer hoistways.
Large capacity
- Two floors served at once: up to 1.8 times the standard transport capacity
- Fewer hoistways: lower construction cost and more net floor area
up to1.8×
Customised architecture
- A device adjusts the distance between the upper and lower cars when floor heights differ
- Up to 7 m of adjustment at Hyundai Asan Tower
up to7m
Low noise, low vibration
- An aerodynamic capsule design, as used in aircraft, that reduces noise and vibration
A reference in Korea
- Hyundai Elevator’s first two double-deck elevators were installed in 2015 in the LG U+ office building, Korea
